Yulu announced that it will be partnering with Zeco Mobility to provide its services in Kochi. After a successful launch in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Yulu is expanding its operations through its Yulu Business Partner (YBP) strategy with this strategic relationship.
Using Yulu’s technology and infrastructural backing, Zeco Mobility, led by clean energy entrepreneur R Shyam Shankar, will independently run Yulu’s electric vehicle (EV) service in Kochi. The unveiling is all the more significant since it falls on the auspicious day of Vishu.
Kochi’s eco-friendly projects, such as India’s first Water Metro and the Cochin International Airport, are well suited to Yulu and Zeco’s concept of sustainable transportation. With zero tailpipe emissions and affordability, Yulu’s shared electric vehicles (EVs) are being rolled out by Zeco Mobility in major locations such as Marine Drive, Broadway, and MG Road. The goal is to improve sustainable tourism and everyday commutes.
“The vision of YBP is to fast-track EV adoption by partnering with entrepreneurs who want to pioneer mobility initiatives in their cities. We are delighted to join hands with Zeco Mobility’s founder R Shyam Shankar, who is a committed and thoughtful entrepreneur with the ambition and vision to commence a green mobility revolution in the city,” said Amit Gupta, Co-founder & CEO of Yulu.
“The sustainable and technology-first aspects of this service are in perfect sync with Kochiites’ pride in the city and their willingness to accept technology-based solutions in every aspect of life. The compactness and inclusivity of these EVs make them ideal for tourists and locals who want to explore Kochi’s beautiful coastline, monuments, markets, and food hotspots. We are confident that the city will embrace Yulu with open arms,” said R Shyam Shankar, Founder of Zeco Mobility.
As part of the collaboration, Yulu has given Zeco Mobility access to its cutting-edge mobility technology platform and “Miracle” EVs, allowing for smooth operations. Operating via the Yulu smartphone app, these lightweight, AI-enabled EVs have a maximum speed of 25 kmph and don’t require a driver’s licence. Furthermore, Yulu has provided interchangeable electric vehicle (EV) batteries and chargers via Yuma, a partner company that offers Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS).
