Volvo Car India has set a new milestone with the delivery of the 200th XC40 Recharge SUV in India.
The electric SUV is presently being built at the carmaker’s Hosakote plant in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
“The delivery of the 200th XC40 Recharge represents a significant milestone. Even when global supply chain issues disrupted delivery, our clients waited patiently for their cars, showing their trust in the Volvo brand. This milestone further strengthens our resolve to become an all-electric company by 2030,” according to Jyoti Malhotra,Volvo Car India’s Managing Director.
The XC40 Recharge is one of the fastest electric cars in its class, reaching 100 mph in less than five seconds. This was tested earlier this year during HT Auto’s first drive review of the XC40 Recharge.
It is also one of the most powerful in its class, with a power output of 408 hp and a tremendous peak torque of 660 Nm. The XC40 Recharge, like all other Volvo vehicles, has a top speed of 180 kmph.
The 78 kWh lithium-ion battery pack powers the XC40 Recharge electric SUV. The huge battery allows the XC40 Recharge to go over 400 kilometres on a single charge.
However, the electric SUV’s approved range is roughly 335 kilometres, which is more likely to represent the real-world range. The XC40 Recharge electric SUV is compatible with 150 kw DC fast charging equipment, which can charge the EV from 10% to 80% in 33 minutes.
Volvo is planning to bring its second electric vehicle to India this year.
The C40 Recharge SUV is slated to be released later this year by Volvo. Volvo is one of the worldwide automakers that intends to convert its whole lineup to an all-electric portfolio by the end of this decade.
