Uber and ENSO, a finalist for The Earthshot Prize, have announced a ground-breaking collaboration to distribute low-emission, energy-efficient electric vehicle (EV) tires throughout the USA and the UK. Through this collaborative partnership, Uber’s dedication to electrification and environmentally friendly transportation options will be supported, and ENSO’s cutting-edge tire technology will become more widely available.
Uber’s global electrification capital, London, hosted the partnership’s official debut. Nearly 30% of Uber’s miles driven in the city are now entirely electric, and the business has contributed £145 million to its Clean Air Fund to help its drivers make the switch to electric vehicles.
As part of this three-year agreement, Uber and ENSO will develop a specialized Buyer’s Club, offering thousands of drivers in both countries access to specially discounted ENSO tires. These high-performance tires are designed to improve the range of EVs and reduce tire pollution, matching with Uber’s broader sustainability goals.
A $500 million carbon-neutral tire factory in the United States is planned by ENSO, a tire technology firm based in London, and is expected to be operational by 2027. The factory will further expand the company’s global reach by producing over five million EV tires yearly and adding over 600 jobs.
