The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has placed another order with Tata Motors for 148 electric buses. Over a 12-year period, TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd., a fully owned subsidiary of Tata Motors, will oversee the delivery, operation, and maintenance of the Tata Starbus EV12-meter low-floor electric buses.
This new order expands on an earlier one for 921 electric buses, the majority of which have already been delivered and are now part of BMTC’s fleet, operating with an uptime of more than 95%. Bengaluru residents can expect a comfortable and sustainable commute thanks to the Tata Starbus EV, which is renowned for its excellent design and cutting-edge technology. BMTC’s managing director, Shri Ramachandran R. said he was happy with the collaboration and praised Tata Motors’ electric buses for their outstanding performance. He underlined that the 148 additional buses will strengthen BMTC’s ability to offer dependable, comfortable, and environmentally friendly public transportation, supporting the city’s dedication to sustainable urban mobility.
In Bengaluru alone, Tata Motors’ e-buses have now covered a total of more than 2.5 crore kilometers, which has significantly reduced CO2 emissions by over 14,000 tonnes.
