At its Pantnagar manufacturing plant, Tata Motors has launched a fleet of locally constructed electric buses intended for employee mobility. These zero-emission buses are a step toward green and sustainable mobility because they are outfitted with contemporary conveniences and powered by sophisticated battery systems.
Tata Motors’ wholly-owned subsidiary TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Limited (TSCMSL) will oversee the transportation operations using Tata Ultra 9m electric buses. The project intends to reduce carbon emissions by about 1,100 tonnes per year while giving more than 5,000 workers a safe, comfortable, and environmentally responsible commute. To ensure a fully environmentally friendly operation, the e-buses will be charged with power produced by a 16MW solar energy facility.
“The introduction of electric buses for workforce commuting marks a significant step forward towards fulfilling Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles’ aspiration of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2045,” said Vishal Badshah, Vice President and Head – Operations, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, during the launch. “As a certified Zero Waste to Landfill facility and water-positive according to CII-GBC standards, the Pantnagar factory has set sustainability goals. Its history of environmental responsibility is strengthened by this e-fleet.”
The Tata Ultra EV 9m electric buses are more efficient and safe due to its Intelligent Transport technologies and regenerative braking technologies. This implementation expands on Tata Motors’ achievements in the electric mobility market in India, where more than 3,100 electric buses have been in service for more than 24 crore kilometers in ten cities with an uptime of more than 95%.
