In just 76 hours and 35 minutes, TATA.ev, the biggest four-wheeler EV manufacturer in the nation, finished the fastest EV travel from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Leading the push was Tata’s newest SUV coupe, the Curvv.ev, which set 20 national records and broke the previous record by more than 19 hours.
The overall charging time was reduced from 28 hours to 17 hours by completing the 3,800 kilometer trip with only 16 charging stops. In addition to showcasing improvements in battery efficiency, this also showcases India’s quickly growing public charging network, which now includes high-speed chargers beside roads.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, flagged off the Curvv.ev from Srinagar at 4:00 AM on February 25, 2025. It traveled through a variety of terrains and weather conditions before arriving in Kanyakumari at 8:35 AM on February 28, 2025, where Thiru. Vijay Vasanth, Kanyakumari Member of Parliament, received it.
Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., offered the following remarks in response to this milestone, “To demonstrate how simple, effective, and comfortable long interstate rides can be with an EV, we set out on this thrilling nonstop tour. With its 55 kWh battery and cutting-edge acti.ev pure EV architecture, the Curvv.ev, which is expected to travel over 1,200 km per day, made the endurance test easy and fatigue-free for its passengers. Travel across ten States and Union Territories was made easy by the development of public charging infrastructure, which now has over 18,000 charging stations.”
With EV range anxiety decreasing and charging infrastructure growing quickly, Tata’s most recent accomplishment reaffirms the feasibility of long-distance, emission-free travel. Achievements like this will continue to push the envelope and encourage broader use of sustainable transportation options as India’s electric mobility revolution picks up speed.
