Suzuki Motor Corporation President Toshihiro Suzuki announced that his company will establish India as a global center for the manufacture of electric and hybrid automobiles.
One of Suzuki’s biggest production sites for cars with internal combustion engines is already India, which also serves as a vital hub for exporting to regions like the Middle East and Africa.
In an interview with the media before Bharat Mobility Show in New Delhi, Toshihiro Suzuki, President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, stated that India will serve as a hub for the export of hybrid automobiles.
Suzuki Motor will introduce the E-Vitara, a passenger car, and the E-Access, an electric scooter, from the motorbike division at the Bharat Mobility Show 2025.
“We want to take advantage of India’s size and export to the entire world, so we will first export this vehicle to Europe and then Japan. India would serve as the production center for these BEVs, which are global models,” he continued.
Although the worldwide market for electric vehicles is seeing a slowdown in adoption, India has room to develop given its low base. Suzuki stated, “Globally, as you mentioned, the EV market is sluggish, the sales are sluggish, but I think in India, there is a potential that EV sales are going to grow.”
Additionally, he claimed that no other nation provided scale benefits like India did. Suzuki’s scale in India is a strength, and we will make the most of it to deliver high-quality and enticing products to Europe, Japan, the Middle East and Africa, Central and South America, and Asian nations,” he continued.
Suzuki Motor Corporation outlined plans in its vision statement to introduce six electric cars in India that would be distributed globally.
