An agreement has been made between Suzuki Motor Corporation and its subsidiary, Suzuki Business Co. Ltd. to supply Hamamatsu Energy Co. Ltd. with the environmental value of the electricity produced by their solar power facilities located in Hamamatsu City. The power is produced at three distinct locations run by Suzuki and Suzuki Business using a feed-in tariff (FIT) scheme.
Local renewable energy generation and consumption are encouraged by Hamamatsu Energy, a local energy supplier with Hamamatsu City as its main shareholder. In addition to businesses and major offices in the city, it provides clean energy to a variety of public facilities, such as elementary and junior high schools. This partnership supports Hamamatsu City’s goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050 and increasing local energy self-sufficiency.
This goal is supported by Suzuki and Suzuki Business’s decision to share their solar power output, which helps the city transition to sustainable energy practices. This program comes after Suzuki’s July 2023 introduction of “Shizuoka Green Denki,” which featured CO2-free electricity generated from renewable energy sources in Shizuoka Prefecture.
Suzuki’s continuous initiatives to support renewable energy and work with nearby communities serve as another evidence of its dedication to creating a sustainable world. Suzuki hopes to be a key player in the area’s transition to a cleaner, more independent energy future by assisting Hamamatsu City with its energy objectives.
