Global OEM, Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. (Sona Comstar) has launched its second-largest manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune.
The purpose of the new plant is to produce driveline components for both conventional ICE vehicles and electric vehicles.
With a total investment of Rs 231 crore, the 10-acre manufacturing hub has been built. The news will be a significant contributor to Sona Comstar’s larger objective of increasing its net order book to Rs 238 billion.
It is said that the new facility can produce up to 1.18 million gears. anticipated to rise to 20.1 million differential gear units by FY 2025.
Ricardo’s data indicate that Sona Comstar’s differential gears global market share increased to 7.2% in 2022 from 5.0% in 2020. The Organization keeps on ruling the Indian market for differential pinion wheels with a 60-90% portion of the overall industry across vehicle classifications.

Since its inception, the OEM has produced 350 million gears. This milestone was recently reached. The company serves five of the world’s top 15 electric vehicle OEMs, four of the world’s top 15 Indian electric two-wheeler OEMs, and seven of the world’s top 10 OEMs of passenger vehicles.
