By early 2026, Royal Enfield, a company owned by Eicher Motors, intends to introduce two electric motorcycle models under the Flying Flea name.
According to the firm, Flying Flea’s first two motorcycles—the classic-styled FF-C6 and the scrambler-styled FF-S6—will be available for purchase by early 2026, with the C6 model anticipated to debut the following year.
As he unveiled the models in Milan, CEO B Govindarajan stated, “We have built a world-class team including 200+ engineers in India and the UK, and we have been deeply investing in R&D and infrastructure for EV over the last many years.”
Royal Enfield has already hired important top management leaders and committed more than Rs 1,500 crore to its electric car industry.
The development project has been led by Umesh Krishnappa, the Chief Technology Officer, while Mario Alvisi, a former Ducati veteran, has been appointed Chief Growth Officer for Royal Enfield’s electric vehicle division.
There is already a dedicated EV unit that functions similarly to a start-up and receives the extra time and funding that upper management wants.
Although Royal Enfield has already purchased more land for the Cheyyar electric car factory, the initial batch of electric vehicles will be produced on a different manufacturing line at its Orgadam location.
With aspirations to co-develop electric motorcycles, Eicher Motors has also purchased a roughly 10% investment in Stark Future, a Spanish manufacturer of high-performance electric motorcycles.
The markets that Royal Enfield intends to first target with their electric motorcycles are unknown.
Although two-wheelers are driving electrification in India, the electric motorbike market has not gained much traction despite a small number of startups like Revolt and Ultraviolette offering limited models.
