In order to progress the infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs), PT PLN (Persero) signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) during the 2024 Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (IISF), which was hosted at the Jakarta Convention Center. The MoUs, which were agreed upon at a panel discussion on methods for speeding up the development of EV infrastructure in Indonesia, demonstrate PLN’s dedication to growing the EV ecosystem there.
The first deal concerns the creation of a centralized EV charging infrastructure with PT Utomo Charge+ Indonesia, and the second one relates to the establishment of public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLUs) with ACME Corporation. Research, development, and knowledge exchange are all part of this partnership.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources’ (ESDM) Directorate General of Electricity’s (Ferry Triansyah), Coordinator of Electricity Business Services, stressed the need of infrastructure in promoting the switch from gas-powered to electric vehicles. He emphasized the government’s commitment to EV adoption through the implementation of Presidential Regulation Number 79 of 2023, which improves infrastructure and offers incentives for EV adoption.
These infrastructures have been linked by PLN into the EV Digital Services (EVDS) section of the PLN Mobile application, which allows users to search for SPKLUs and SPBKLU, request installations of home charging, and buy EVs.
