Pepper Motion plans to build the world’s largest electric bus and truck production facility in Punganur’s Chittoor area. The Andhra Pradesh government has set aside 800 acres for this massive project, which would cost Rs 4,640 crore.
To officially launch the venture, Chittoor district collector S Shanmohan traveled to Punganur with a delegation from Pepper Motion led by CEO Andreas Hager.
According to Shanmohan, the project has the potential to produce 8,100 local jobs, bringing a considerable economic boost to the region. He thanked Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Energy Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, and Rajampet MP PV Mithun Reddy for their efforts in supporting the electric car manufacturing business at Pepper Motion in Punganur.
Andreas Hager, CEO of Pepper Motion, explained the project’s schedule, claiming that construction will begin in March 2024. The staged manufacturing strategy seeks to create 1,000 electric buses and trucks by 2027, with an emphasis on creating local job opportunities for educated youth.
