Orxa Energies has launched its new facility for electric vehicle manufacturing and battery assembly at Bommasandra Industrial Area in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
Spread across 1 acre, the new facility currently can manufacture 20,000 electric bikes, branded Mantis.
It also accommodates research and development activities, Mantis assembly stations, battery assembly lines, and a product testing centre.
According to the startup, the joint R&D and production facility will enable Orxa Energies to leverage its strong in-house engineering talent to vastly improve the vehicle tech as well as the production and assembly methods used in the Orxa motorcycles.
Ranjita Ravi, Co-founder Orxa Energies, said that the startup is gearing up to launch its flagship electric performance motorcycle, the Mantis, by the end of this year. This electric bike will be equipped with a 9Kw battery pack that will give a range of 200km on a single charge, claims the startup.
“2023 is a critical year for us, we finally bring the Mantis to the people,” she added.
Orxa Energies raised its pre-series round of funding for an undisclosed amount from the SAR group last year. The development has played a pivotal role in accelerating the company’s roadmap to Mantis’ launch, the co-founders said.
“The substantial investments made towards building this facility reinforce our journey towards preparing the Mantis and other Orxa offerings for demanding customers. Over the years we have been actively improving our product offerings, making the Mantis an equivalent to the best-in-class ICE motorcycle,” Prajwal Sabnis, Co-founder Orxa Energies, said.
