In India, Ola has introduced its first B2B-focused electric scooter, which comes in two different models. While the Gig+ costs Rs 49,999, the Gig itself costs Rs 39,999.
The new Ola Gig has a spacious single seat for the rider and a large carrier at the back because it was made to be a commercial two-wheeler.
The scooter has a telescopic front fork and drum brakes on both ends. The Ola Gig base model can be operated without registration because it has a modest 250-watt motor and a top speed of 25 kph. The Yulu models that we see scurrying around in big cities will face competition from this product.
With a 1.5kW motor and a top speed of 45 kph, the Ola Gig+ is significantly more powerful and will need to be registered for road use.
One detachable 1.5kWh battery pack is included with both scooters; if you purchase the Gig+, you can increase the number of packs to two. Depending on whether you purchase the Gig with one battery or two, the business claims a range of 112 km for the Gig and either 81 km or 157 km for the Gig+.
Although the business claims speedy charging times, it hasn’t provided any precise numbers. The scooter will be activated by app-based access. Ola hasn’t disclosed any additional details yet, just digital render photos. Details like wheel diameters, load-carrying capacity, kerb weight, and seat height are yet unclear.
Ola has revealed that the Gig and Gig+ will start at Rs 39,999 and Rs 49,999, respectively. In April 2025, deliveries are expected to start.
