The biggest manufacturer of electric two-wheelers in India, Ola Electric Ltd., has been developing a line of electric three-wheelers and is anticipated to introduce the first model in the second half of 2025.
“We are working on three-wheelers,” Bhavish Aggarwal, the chairman and managing director of Ola Electric, informed investors following the release of the company’s second-quarter financial results.
The company’s presentation indicates that a passenger three-wheeler is planned for the second half of next year, while a freight three-wheeler is scheduled for the second half of 2026, though he did not specify the launch timing.
The best part is that its electronics, battery design, and powertrain are all on the same platform as our S1. Regarding the electric three-wheelers, Agarwal stated that the only difference was in the mechanics.
In India, three-wheelers are becoming increasingly popular electric vehicles. In the first half of the fiscal year, almost 54% of the three-wheelers sold were electric. The two biggest companies in this market are M&M and Bajaj Auto. About 30% of the market for electric two-wheelers is occupied by Ola Electric. By March, it hopes to increase the number of distribution outlets from the current 782 to 2,000.
With the delivery of its Roadster series starting in the fourth quarter of the current fiscal year, the business is anticipated to make its debut into the electric motorcycle market.
