MG Motor India and BatX Energies have partnered to create the first-ever off-grid solar-EV charging station in India.
Utilising used MG EV batteries, the off-grid solar-EV charging system offers an environmentally friendly way to recharge electric cars. According to the press announcement, the device, which was created by BatX Energies with assistance from Delhi Research Implementation and Innovation, is currently in the industrialization phase.
It can charge two-wheelers to four-wheelers and runs without the need of conventional electrical sources, limiting carbon emissions and dependency on standard charging techniques.
MG Motor India’s Deputy Managing Director, Gaurav Gupta, stated that the company will benefit the environment by promoting the circular economy and using the potential of recycling old batteries.
Vikrant Singh, Co-founder and CTO of BatX Energies said, “This second-life battery storage system, starting at 20kWh and scalable up to 100kWh, supported by 6.6kW of solar power, signifies a transformative shift in energy solutions. Generating approximately 40kWh daily which is equivalent to 40 units, it underscores our dedication to providing flexible, scalable, and reliable sustainable energy for diverse demands.”
MG Motor India has created a robust EV environment with its 6-way charging infrastructure and installed more than 15,000 charging touchpoints, including public and home chargers, nationwide.
