The interior design patents that have appeared online show that the next Mahindra XUV.e8 will have a three-screen configuration and a new two-spoke steering wheel. Additionally, pre-production prototypes revealed some interior similarities with the XUV700. When the XUV.e8 arrives on sale by year’s end, it will be the first born-electric SUV built on the company’s INGLO platform.
The entire width of the dashboard will be occupied by a single casing that houses three separate screens, according to the patent. With an extra passenger screen and AC vents on either side, it seems like an extension of the XUV700’s dual-screen configuration. Mahindra’s Adrenox software is anticipated to operate on all three screens.
Similar to the latest Tata SUVs, the new two-spoke, flat-bottomed steering wheel looks to have a glass-like finish on the boss and is probably equipped with an illuminated emblem. There are also four toggle switches on the steering. Additionally, some switchgear from the XUV700, such the HVAC and centre console controls, will be carried over to the XUV.e8. This interior design may be similar to that of the XUV.e9, its coupe-SUV cousin.
Conceptually, the XUV.e8 will be quite similar to the XUV700, sharing a familiar profile and three rows of seats. It is 4,740mm long, 1,900mm wide and 1,760mm high, with a 2,762mm wheelbase, making it 45mm longer, 10mm wider and 5mm taller than the XUV700; its wheelbase will be just 7mm longer than the XUV700’s.
Mahindra previously confirmed that the XUV.e8 will come with an all-wheel-drive system and battery pack of up to 80kWh. Power outputs could be anywhere from 230hp to upwards of 350hp.
The production-spec XUV.e8 is expected to debut in the coming months before it goes on sale by the end of the year. It will face competition from the Harrier EV that’s due sometime in early 2025.
