The total number of automobiles sold by Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. in January 2025 was 85,432—a 16% increase over the previous year. The company’s utility vehicle division drove the expansion, selling 50,659 units domestically, up 18% from 43,068 units in January 2024.
Test drives for Mahindra’s new Electric Origin SUVs, the BE6 and XEV 9E, started on January 14, and reservations will open on February 14, according to Veejay Nakra, President of Mahindra’s Automotive Division. At the most recent Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi, the cars were on display.
Commercial vehicle exports nearly doubled to 3,404 units from 1,746 units in January 2024, a 95% increase, while domestic sales hit 23,917 units. Sales of the company’s utility vehicles have increased by 20% so far this year, from 376,832 units in the prior fiscal year to 453,019 units.
Since its establishment in 1945, Mahindra & Mahindra has gone on to become one of India’s top automakers. The company’s expansion into the SUV sector is a reflection of the growing demand for utility vehicles in the Indian market.
Exports for the company as a whole have performed well so far this year, totaling 27,505 units, up 28% from 21,551 units in the prior fiscal year. Mahindra’s growing market presence and the effective execution of its product strategy are demonstrated by the rise across all sectors, but especially in utility vehicles and exports.
Building on its current portfolio, which includes automobiles made by its subsidiary, Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited, the introduction of new electric cars signifies Mahindra’s ongoing push into the electric mobility market.
