In Japan, the Maruti Fronx has received over 700 orders. The Fronx will be available for purchase in Japan starting on October 16, 2024.
Currently, the only Suzuki product manufactured in India and sold in Japan is the Fronx, which is produced at the Suzuki Gujarat plant. The 1.5-liter gasoline engine with mild hybrid technology found in these automobiles intended for export replaces the 1.2-liter engine found in the India-spec variants. In India, the Fronx is also available with a 1.0-liter Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine.
In both left- and right-hand drive configurations, it is currently being exported to numerous foreign countries. In FY 2023–2024, Maruti Suzuki shipped more than 2.8 lakh passenger cars, making it the leading exporter of automobiles built in India. In Q1 FY 2024–25, the brand exported a record 70,560 units, the most in any Q1 in the company’s history.
In the first quarter of FY25, Maruti Suzuki India outpaced Hyundai Motor India by 27,362 units, with 69,962 units sold and 11% growth. The Grand Vitara and the Fronx are the newest models to join the business’s export range of more than 17 automobiles. The company sells cars, SUVs, and MPVs built in India to approximately 100 countries, with Africa, Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East being its main markets.
Currently, the Dzire sedan, the Swift, S-Presso, and Baleno hatchbacks, and the Brezza SUV are the Maruti Suzuki models with the biggest export demand.
In Japan, the Fronx will take on the likes of the Honda HR-V and the Toyota Yaris Cross.
