Lohia has announced its entry into the battery-swapping station market with the unveiling of its first facility in Visakhapatnam. This strategic move marks a significant step towards revolutionizing electric vehicle (EV) adoption and promoting cleaner modes of transportation. Lohia’s pioneering battery-swapping stations offer a convenient and efficient solution for EV owners, eliminating the need for time-consuming recharging.
Strategically located in Visakhapatnam, Lohia has introduced three fully functional Swapping cum Service Stations at Shanti Ashram Marg, Town Kotha, and Mudasarlova. These stations, equipped with a high capacity, provide a seamless battery-swapping experience to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles in the city. With a total of 240 battery swapping slots available, Lohia ensures efficient service and uninterrupted operation for EV owners.
By introducing the battery-swapping system, Lohia aims to make electric vehicles more accessible and convenient while contributing to environmental conservation. Over the next five years, this groundbreaking initiative is projected to save approximately 64.2 metric tons of CO2 emissions, promoting cleaner air and a healthier local environment.
“We are excited to venture into the battery-swapping station market with our inaugural facility in Visakhapatnam,” stated Mr. Ayush Lohia, CEO of Lohia. “This initiative aligns with our vision of making electric vehicles more practical and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. By providing a reliable and efficient swapping solution, we aim to transform the perception of EVs and drive their widespread adoption.”
Lohia’s battery-swapping stations offer numerous benefits for EV owners, including reduced waiting times and uninterrupted journeys. With the seamless exchange of drained batteries for fully charged ones, EV owners can continue their travels without the inconvenience of recharging. Additionally, the battery-swapping system optimizes the operations of garbage vehicles, ensuring uninterrupted waste collection and contributing to a cleaner city.
This venture into the battery-swapping station market is just the beginning for Lohia. The company has ambitious plans to expand its network to other cities in the near future. Lohia envisions a future where electric vehicles dominate as the preferred mode of transportation, with battery-swapping stations playing a vital role in realizing this vision.
Lohia’s foray into battery-swapping stations has been made possible through collaboration with the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) and funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). With the support of the ‘Urban Climate Change Resilience Trust Fund’ of the ADB and the Visakhapatnam Chennai Industrial Corridor Development Program (VCICDP), Lohia has successfully established the first battery-swapping station in Visakhapatnam.
The launch of Lohia’s battery-swapping station has generated significant interest and excitement among industry leaders and stakeholders. As Lohia continues to pioneer sustainable transportation solutions, the company is poised to transform the EV landscape and accelerate the transition to a cleaner and greener future.
