To power Ford Motor Company’s upcoming generation of electrified commercial vans throughout Europe, LG Energy Solution has announced the signing of important supply agreements. With contracts ranging from four to six years, LG Energy Solution will provide Ford with 109 GWh of battery capacity beginning in 2026.
By strengthening Ford’s electrification initiatives in the European market, the collaboration aims to provide a consistent supply of cutting-edge battery solutions designed for commercial use. The performance and range of Ford’s electric vans are improved by these batteries, which are made to endure the demanding requirements of commercial operation.
The firms announced a change in the battery production location for the current Ford Mustang Mach-E in addition to the European supply agreement. In 2025, production will shift from LG Energy Solution’s Polish site to its Michigan factory. This strategic choice seeks to increase business efficiency by taking advantage of advantageous market conditions, such as the incentives offered by the US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
David Kim, CEO of LG Energy Solution, said, “These agreements attest to our experience and expertise in powering commercial vehicles with innovative battery technologies designed to handle extreme user environments.” By leveraging our local production capacity, we will establish market leadership in Europe and provide our customers with unparalleled value by utilizing cutting-edge battery technologies that efficiently meet a variety of needs.”
