With an annual production capacity of 60,000 battery packs, Kinetic Group announced the completion of its battery manufacturing facility in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. The Rs. 50 crore plant will manufacture both Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) and Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) versions of the Range-X brand of batteries for two- and three-wheeler electric cars.
The facility complies with industry standards such as AIS 156 and AIS 004 and has automated production lines with IoT-enabled technologies and stage-wise inspections. In order to position itself to serve India’s expanding EV market, which is expected to reach US$ 18.319 billion by 2029 at a CAGR of 28.52%, the business intends to supply batteries to OEMs outside of the Kinetic Group.
Thermal runaway protection and intelligent Battery Management System (BMS) integration are features built into the Range-X LFP batteries. According to the business, recyclable materials are used in the batteries’ manufacturing. Additionally, NMC batteries with an emphasis on high energy density and charge-discharge rates will be produced at the facility.
According to Vice Chairman and Managing Director Ajinkya Firodia of Kinetic Group, the facility demonstrates their dedication to sustainability and self-sufficiency in battery technology. Under the PM E-drive Make in India push and the government’s PLI subsidies, the company is attempting to localise the BMS development.
The Kinetic Group’s flagship business, Kinetic Engineering Limited, has more than 50 years of experience in the automobile industry. With 32 manufacturing sheds and over 400 machinery, the Ahmednagar manufacturing complex employs about 1,000 workers. Major automakers including Renault, TATA Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Ashok Leyland are among the company’s clientele.
