The JSW Group has denied any knowledge of any plans to move its proposed Rs 40,000 crore electric car and battery project from Odisha to Maharashtra, as reported by the media. Notwithstanding the project’s execution delays, the corporation reiterated its dedication to the Odisha project.

Along with expressing support for the project, the Odisha government also stated that they are now working with JSW Group to complete the details. For the project, a special incentive package approved by the state government comprises a copper smelter, a lithium refinery, and a manufacturing unit for electric vehicles and their components.

Notwithstanding the obstacles encountered by the project, JSW Group maintains confidence in its ability to foster the expansion of the electric car sector in Odisha. According to the corporation, the initiative will foster sustainable mobility in the state, increase economic development, and provide jobs.
