The Value Stream Leader – Coil Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operations of manufacturing and direct labor resource planning for the day. The position provides oversight of all manufacturing functions associated with the production Plunge joint & Fixed Joint. The Coil shop supervisor’s mission is to guide the coil fabrication team to produce and repair Coils that meets the customer (FJ & PJ) and quality expectations, in a manner that ensures safety, meets productivity, schedule delivery commitments, and promotes continuous improvement in the areas of cost, quality and cycle time.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervises the coil shop to ensure no loss due to non-availability of new coil/s and ensure quick restoration of coil repairing work. including coil fabrication, and assembly.
- Responsible for coil shop-related matters including health & safety, Productivity, costs, quality, on-time delivery, equipment, process improvement (lean), asset maintenance.
- Ensures proper utilization of resources by properly scheduling workforce and resources.
- Maintaining minimum inventory levels of coil shop related materials, tools including hand tools and machine tools, fluxtrol, brazing rod, Mouth and stem base, copper tube, base plate, iron core, master samples, gauges
- Documentation record of coil shop like Coil drawings, Check sheet, training and awareness, process flow chart, inspection sheet formats filling
- Promote continuous improvement efforts. Implement lean principles and manufacturing methods.
- Design and development of new coils and modification as per the requirements.
- Support plant safety including ensuring employees wear personal protective equipment; ensuring leaders/employees follow correct safety policy and procedures, and that proper training and awareness is provided.
- Problem solving with Trouble shooting of Induction hardening issues like Mouth Crack, Stem Crack, Face Crack, Micro Grade issues, Case Depth issue, Hardness issues etc.
- Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital. Assure attainment of business objectives and productions schedules while ensuring product standards that will exceed our customers’ expectations.
- Promote cross training and skills development of employees to enhance work force flexibility
- Demonstrate strong leadership and problem-solving skills as well as outstanding communications, training, motivational and employee development skills.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned by the direct and matrix Manager.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
Degree / Diploma in Mech Engg with 7-10 years of experience in automotive industry.
Design & manufacturing skill of coils, Induction hardening knowledge, Problem solving techniques, interpersonal skills, good attitude & behavior, Microsoft office working knowledge, Metallurgical knowledge.
