I. Lead Engineer Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Single point contact for tooling/equipment issues, concerns and possible continuous throughput improvement ideas/projects.
- Provide technical direction and project management oversight to suppliers, contractors and/or plant maintenance for new tooling and kit installations.
- Creation of SORs and project management for tools, stations or specific technologies.
- Support tryout and debug of tooling and equipment at assembly plant.
- Maintaining accurate Tooling Status List for shipment and installation to meet targets.
- Receive all tooling deliveries/packages based on installation schedule.
- Support new vehicle launch at the assembly plant which will include various shifts and long hours during construction and launch events.
- Ensure all ME tool designs are data-banked and spare parts information is available to plant.
- Assist in the planning, estimating, and evaluating of new manufacturing process and equipment for installation. Often requires conducting plant floor walks with IEs and Contractors to understand scope of work.
- Responsible for uptime improvement, reduction in scrap, and increase in throughput.
- Report project status, results and lessons learned to VS management.
- Work with VS-ME to drive any error proofing features into product designs based on past lesson learnings.
II. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge
- Working knowledge in AutoCAD, MS Office applications, MS project, Sharepoint
- Working knowledge of GA Shop processes,layout, equipment & material handling systems.
- Working knowledge of GA sequence of operations and human factors.
- Basic knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Value Engineering and Design for Health & Safety
- Demonstrated understanding of plant floor work (Assembly, logistics, automation etc.,)
- Good understanding of the Vehicle Development & Launch Process, Quality Chain, DFMEA-PFMEA.
- Good knowledge on Project Management methodologies (PMP certification prefered)
- Sound knowledge of OpEx tools, Six sigma and Red X methodologies.
Skills
- Experienced in working with multiple interfaces to deliver the results.
- Basic Data analysis and research to implement process improvement opportunities.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good problem solving & analytical skills.
- Good skills on process automation and business intelligence tools (VB script, Power BI etc.,)

III. Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Production/Automobile Engineering discipline.
IV. Experience
- 5+ years of GA Shop project execution experience from Automotive OEMs / Engineering Organizations.
