You’ll be working with the product and engineering team.
This team runs on coffee with an infectious passion to build products that have never been built before. Our Flexible Energy Stack consists of the e^pack (battery pack) and e^pump (charging station) which together unlock 15-minute rapid charging.
Our philosophy: Break. Believe. Build
Break stuff. Break assumptions. Break the thumb rule.
Believe in the team. Believe in the process. Believe through failures.
Build fast. Build passionately. Build to simplify.
What you will do:
At Exponent, we unlocked 15-min rapid charging of Lithium-ion batteries as a result of our e^pump (Charging Station) and e^pack (Battery) working together. This needs to be packed with proper processes and go through qualifying steps to move the product out to the customer. That’s exactly what you’ll be responsible for.
As module lead for the e^pump (Charging Station), you will be responsible for all the engineering deliverables on the e^pump. You are expected to design and scale the charging station which is capable of rapid-charging the battery in 15 minutes. Your day-to-day will involve solving problems around the thermals of pushing 600A of current, ensuring packaging requirements are met, hardware design that can handle the power, and ensuring the right firmware fit to communicate with the battery.
Oh wait, did we forget to mention that all of this needs to scale across multiple cities and weather conditions?
Your roles and responsibilities:
Define the right architecture ( anything and everything must be questioned)
- Quality v/s Cost v/s Timeline
- Be a holistic product owner. Think tech, product, business, and operations.
- You must be able to ensure excellence in achieving trade-offs between the quality v/s cost of the product.
- It is your responsibility to ensure that the product lands at the right timelines.
- Get Set Production
- You must work with the validation team to ensure that bugs that our customers will definitely not miss are resolved
- Safety is not to be taken lightly when working with voltages up to 1200V
- DFM, DFA, and DFS is a critical part of your role so that scaling the product is never a limitation
The ideal candidate requires:
- Experience in the 1-100 journey of taking hardware from concept/proto to production.
- Strong grasp of Power Electronics concepts.
- Good understanding of thermal design fundamentals.
- Project planning skills to plan and deliver quality at the right cost on time.
- Leadership skills to drive a team to land projects critical to the company.
What matters less:
- Years of experience
- Formal qualification
What matters more:
- Quality of work
- Approach towards problem-solving
- Dissatisfaction with mediocre work
- Resilient attitude to bounce back after failing
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams
