The Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi, met with Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung to talk about the future of mobility and possible areas of collaboration between the two countries. Mr. Tarun Garg, the Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), was also present at the meeting, which took place in the Prime Minister’s office in Delhi.
The conversations centered on India’s changing mobility scene, with Executive Chair Chung highlighting Hyundai’s dedication to the nation in light of its vibrant market and forward-thinking legislative changes. Chung thanked the Indian government at the meeting for its ongoing assistance with Hyundai Motor Group’s business endeavors in India, which started in 1996. In an effort to support India’s “Make in India” campaign, he also invited Prime Minister Modi to the launch of HMIL’s new manufacturing facility in Pune, Maharashtra.
Chung’s attendance at the HMIL Stock Exchange Listing Ceremony, which reflected the Group’s strategic goals for growth in India, underscored the importance of the meeting. With support from the governments of Maharashtra and India, the new investment in the Pune factory is viewed as a game-changer for HMIL. This program is in line with India’s “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision, which aims to commemorate the country’s 100th anniversary of independence with important advancements.
Chung acknowledged Hyundai’s long history in India and said the firm has grown to become the nation’s second-largest automaker, a feat he attributes to the backing of the Indian populace and government. He stated that Hyundai wants to further establish itself as India’s “Most Trusted Brand” and “Home Brand.”
