The first teaser image for Hyundai Motor Company’s future Casper Electric has been unveiled. The zero-emission version of Hyundai’s adorable little crossover, the Casper Electric, is based on the Hyundai i10 City hatchback.
Earlier this year, the crossover-style Casper city car—which is presently only available in South Korea—was seen conducting winter testing in Scandinavia, raising the possibility that it was wrapping up the homologation procedure for Europe.
For its native market of South Korea, Hyundai unveiled the Casper in September 2021 as a remarkably small urban runabout in the guise of an SUV. Its measurements are 2400mm in wheelbase, 1595mm in width, 1575mm in height, and 3595mm in length. It is anticipated that the forthcoming Casper Electric will have the same dimensions.
The teaser image for Casper Electric reveals that while the compact EV retains the basic model’s robust shape, it has grown to stand out by incorporating electrified design elements.
The Casper Electric has a sturdy yet concise silhouette. In addition, the front turn signal and surface-emitting DRL, which are applied with differentiated pixel graphics unique to electric vehicles, display unity with the tail and stop lamps at the rear and attract attention.
According to Hyundai, the Casper Electric has a driving range of 315 kilometres on a single charge. The company states that the Casper Electric, which has been created as a new car class, will become a standard car that will lead the popularisation of the EV market in Korea.
Hyundai Motor Company will officially showcase the new Casper Electric in public for the first time at the Busan Mobility Show on June 27. The e-SUV will be launched first in South Korea, likely followed by a lunch in Europe.
That’s a million-dollar question to which the answer is not yet known. What is known is that Hyundai Motor India’s EV programme for India will see it begin production of its first locally produced zero-emission model – the Creta EV – at the end of 2024 from its Chennai manufacturing plant. The Creta EV will be officially launched in India in January 2025.
By 2030, there are plans to produce another five EVs in India. These six battery electric vehicles (BEVs) from Hyundai Motor India will span different segments and body styles, designed to cater to different segments like the mass market as well as the mass premium market and will include an SUV, sedan and CUV (Compact Utility Vehicle).
