During the official practice round for teams competing in the forthcoming Hyundai N Festival motorsports event, Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the IONIQ 5 N eN1 Cup car. This unique electric race car, which is based on the highly regarded IONIQ 5 N high-performance electric vehicle (EV), ushers in a new era of environmentally friendly racing.
With a more powerful drivetrain and a bigger battery capacity than the IONIQ 5 basic model, the IONIQ 5 N eN1 Cup car has the same power electronics (PE) system as the production IONIQ 5 N. The IONIQ 5 N is the N brand’s first high-performance electric vehicle. It has strong acceleration and a maximum power output of 650 PS. It is also very durable and ideal for demanding circuit driving. It incorporates a strong battery temperature management system, a powerful regenerative braking system, and Hyundai Motor’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) technology.
The IONIQ 5 N eN1 Cup car, like the current Avante (Elantra) N1 class, is a top-tier racing car made for professional drivers who compete in the N1 class and is improved for circuit performance with slick tyres. With the next eN1 class set to debut this year, teams will be able to use a variety of tyre products without being restricted to a single manufacturer thanks to open regulations.
“We are very happy to present the IONIQ 5 N eN1 Cup car, showcasing our dedication to environmentally friendly racing. Our zeal for pushing the limits of what electric vehicles can accomplish on the racecourse and our state-of-the-art technology are demonstrated by this distinctive electric racing car”, stated Vice President and Head of N Brand & Motorsport Till Wartenberg.
“Our ultimate goal with the eN1 class is to position Hyundai Motor as a true leader in the electric vehicle motorsports market, supporting the expansion and improvement of Korea’s thriving motorsports industry and leaving a lasting impression on the world stage. With the eN1 class, we are poised to redefine the future of racing and pave the way for a new era of electrifying motorsport achievements”, said Joon Park, Head of N Brand Management Group.
