The EV vehicles were flagged off at Rampura Agucha by Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Chairperson, Hindustan Zinc; Akarsh Hebbar, Managing Director, Display & Semiconductor Business, Vedanta; Praveen Somani, Managing Director, Inland EV Green Services Pvt Ltd; and Anurag Dubey, Chief Operating Officer, IPL Tech Electric Pvt Ltd.
This action demonstrates Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to attaining net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. In line with its approved Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) targets, the corporation aspires for a 50% decrease in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions and a 25% reduction in absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by FY2030, compared to the base year FY2020.
Hindustan Zinc has also begun the deployment of LNG-powered cars, with the goal of building a fleet of 180 such vehicles. The company is making progress toward attaining net-zero emissions across the value chain by FY2050, in line with the 1.5°C trajectory, with the deployment of EV Trucks. The company’s sustainability policies have garnered global acclaim, with the metal and mining sector ranking third globally and first in the Asia Pacific Region in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2022.
