Hero MotoCorp Ltd. declared that starting in February, the electric vehicle and Emerging Mobility Business Unit (EMBU) will become a separate, totally autonomous entity. The carmaker established the EMBU in 2019 to promote advancements in cutting-edge transportation, such as electric cars.
“Leading the EV revolution and next-generation mobility under the mentorship of the Executive Chairman Pawan Munjal,” the business stated in an exchange filing, the EV & Emerging Mobility Business Unit would become a completely autonomous and empowered unit.
The shift in approach coincides with the planned departure of Hero MotoCorp Chief Business Officer of India Ranjivjit Singh and Chief Executive Officer Niranjan Gupta on April 30. At the moment, EMBU’s chief business officer is Swadesh Srivastava.
With a mid-single digit market share in the electric vehicle market, India’s biggest two-wheeler manufacturer is stepping up its efforts to capture a bigger piece of the market. Since 2023, when it began selling Vida, the corporation has been progressively growing its footprint throughout the nation. With more than 180 dealers and 203 touchpoints, Vida operated in over 116 cities last year.
Hero MotoCorp presently offers two kinds of electric scooters under the Vida brand: the Vida V1 and the Vida Z. The business has said that it intends to use the Vida brand to extend its operations to the UK and Europe in the second half of 2025. Hero MotoCorp plans to launch the Vida Z as its debut model in the UK and Europe.
