With the launch of the GM Energy PowerBank, GM Energy, a division of General Motors, is leading the energy storage industry. EV owners may store energy, link the PowerBank with solar power systems, and power their houses during blackouts. It is available in 10.6 kWh and 17.7 kWh variations. By providing modular solutions that meet a range of energy needs, the new product line seeks to give customers more control over how much energy they use.
The GM Energy PowerBank is intended to facilitate the storage of solar energy, help offset peak electricity rates, and offer backup power during blackouts. Users can generate up to 35.4 kWh of storage by connecting two 17.7 kWh PowerBanks, which is enough to power an average American home for up to 20 hours.
Wade Sheffer, vice president of GM Energy, stated, “Our customers have more control over their energy use thanks to the flexibility of our energy management tools and one of the largest lineups of vehicle-to-home capable electric vehicles on the market. This helps to integrate renewable energy options, lessen the impact of power outages, and unlock additional value.”
A PowerShift charger and a Vehicle-to-Home Enablement kit are included in the GM Energy Home System bundle, which also includes the PowerBank. It is easy for customers to integrate the PowerBank into their existing V2H setup. Referrals to Qmerit, GM Energy’s preferred partner for site evaluations and installation, will be made for those incorporating solar power.
