Promoting the adoption of electric mobility within the state, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh has urged electric vehicle makers to build state-specific prototype electric buses.
In a meeting held with EV manufacturers, the CM asked the companies to keep in mind Himachal Pradesh’s hilly terrain, luggage space, and loading capacity while building electric buses.
The state government plans to replace HRTC’s diesel buses with electric buses in a phased manner in order to achieve Himachal’s Green Energy State goal by 2025.
A committee will be constituted to decide on all the specifications and modalities for prototype electric buses under Chief Secretary’s Chairmanship.
The state government is determined to offer the best and most comfortable transportation services for its citizens. He stated that the state government is working hard to conserve and preserve the environment. The transition to electric vehicles will be an important step in this direction.
The state government intends to make the ‘Clean and Green’ corridor to the Parwanoo-Nalagarh-Una-Hamirpur-Nadaun-Dehra highway and the required infrastructure will be created in this regard.
The Himachal transport department is the first department in India to transition to electric vehicles.
