Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has rolled out eGaruda bus service to Vijayawada.
Transport Minister Ajay Puvvada and TSRTC Chairman Bajireddy Govardhan flagged off the brand-new electric buses from Miyapur.
“The state has received ten of the 50 electric buses that are designed for interstate travel. The vehicles were also listed to travel to Vijayawada and made their first trip.
TSRTC has taken a significant step towards sustainability. With the addition of these buses, the fleet in the state has now reached 10,000,” said the transport minister.
After the 50-bus fleet arrives, an electric AC bus will leave Vijayawada approximately every 20 minutes.
These buses are suitable for Vijayawada because they can travel up to 350km on a single charge.
These buses will be a success as on any given day about 50,000 people commute between Hyderabad and Vijaywada/Rajahmundry.
Bajireddy said that the TSRTC will be able to improve its services with more buses.
TSRTC MD VC Sajjanar stated that 1,860 electric buses would join the fleet within the next 2-years.
