In Pune, EMotorad has declared plans to build what it calls the largest integrated electric cycle gigafactory in the world. EMotorad’s gigafactory, which will initially occupy 2,40,000 square feet, will produce all giga components, such as the battery, motor, display, and charger. This will be a significant step forward for the startup and a crucial part of the production of electric vehicles.
According to the news announcement, the gigafactory’s initial manufacturing capacity of more than 500,000 e-cycles annually is intended to address the growing need for alternative forms of transportation.
There are four stages to the construction of the e-cycle gigafactory. According to a press release, once phase one is finished, it will be the largest integrated e-cycle gigafactory in South Asia and the largest outside of China.
Phase one, starting in August, focuses on giga component production, with subsequent phases expanding in-house manufacturing capabilities.
The factory expansion was a strategic allocation of funds from the series B funding secured by EMotorad earlier this year from investors such as Panthera Group, Xto10x, and former Indian Cricket Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
