Up to 500 ultra-fast charging stations will be installed in key places throughout the United States as part of a partnership between ChargePoint and General Motors. By the end of 2025, the new charging stations—branded under GM Energy—will be accessible to the general public, accelerating the nation’s shift to electric vehicles.
ChargePoint’s state-of-the-art Omni Port system, which supports both CCS and NACS charging connections, will be integrated into the project. This invention gives EV users unparalleled flexibility by doing away with the need for adapters or special parking spots. ChargePoint’s Express Plus platform, which offers lightning-fast charging speeds of up to 500kW, will also be available at several of the locations.
Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint, stated, “through dependable charging hardware controlled by our market-leading software platform, ChargePoint and GM will collaborate to provide a flawless rapid charging experience.”
In order to facilitate third-party charge point operators’ (CPOs’) deployment of DC fast chargers, the alliance also launches an incentive scheme. From site selection and permitting to building and installation, this project seeks to expedite the infrastructure development process.
The two businesses’ dedication to developing EV infrastructure and enhancing accessibility for EV drivers across the country is demonstrated by this strategic partnership. To guarantee the program’s success, ChargePoint and GM will collaborate closely with site hosts and operators throughout the deployment.
