Recently, BYD has been active in India, registering new design patents. The Bao 3 EV was the subject of the September filing, while the Denza N9 PHEV was filed in October. Notably, BYD has stated that it would participate in the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025. However, the Chinese brand has not yet released an official statement regarding the two EVs’ presentations.
Denza, a luxury new energy vehicle (NEV) brand owned by BYD, with its headquarters in Shenzhen, China. The N9 is 5.2 meters long and has a wheelbase of 3.1 meters, which is Mercedes GLS territory. According to the listing on China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology website, the Denza N9 is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).
ICE and EV powertrains work together to power the N9 PHEV. A 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine with 206 horsepower handles combustion tasks. Additionally, the electric arrangement of the N9 produces a total of 924 horsepower from two motors for each rear wheel and a front-axle motor. It has a 165-kilometer range with its 47kWh blade-cell battery. With a comparable three-motor configuration and a maximum output of 965 horsepower, there is an all-electric N9.
BYD’s off-road division in Fangchengbao is the manufacturer of the Bao 3 electric SUV. The 4.6-meter SUV, which is based on the Super 3 concept car, will sit atop the Atto 3 (4.4-meter). The electric motors in the Bao 3’s front (149 horsepower) and back (299 horsepower) are made to mimic a four-wheel drive (4WD) system. Its highest speed is 201 kph, and its sprint time from 0 to 100 kph is 4.9 seconds. BYD also registered a different design patent here for the SUV with a roof-mounted carrier.
