Blue Dart has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) fleet to over 480 e-vehicles (2, 3 & 4 wheelers combined). This initiative, announced on World Environment Day, underscores Blue Dart’s dedication to environmental stewardship and its ambitious goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions.
The addition of EVs to Blue Dart’s fleet is expected to significantly lower environmental impact, cutting CO2 emissions by approximately 15.05 tonnes per month.
Blue Dart’s commitment to global climate action is further highlighted by its participation as a signatory to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) ‘Climate Neutral Now’ (CNN) pledge.
The company also intends to plant over 111,000 trees annually as part of its Sustainability Roadmap, which, after the plants mature, is expected to offset more than 13,320 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
“Blue Dart is at the forefront of sustainable logistics in India, charting the course for a greener future,” said Balfour Manuel, Managing Director of Blue Dart. “We have the opportunity to drastically lower our carbon footprint and greatly contribute to environmental conservation by adding electric vehicles to our fleet. Our transition to a green fleet demonstrates Blue Dart’s dedication to sustainable development and carbon neutrality.”
Blue Dart remains focused on delivering innovative solutions while fulfilling its environmental responsibilities. The adoption of electric vehicles represents a crucial step in its journey towards long-term sustainability goals, reinforcing its status as an industry leader dedicated to creating a cleaner, greener future.
