Today marked the opening of Battery Smart’s 1000th swap station in Delhi. Battery Smart is a network for electric two- and three-wheeler battery switching. According to the corporation, this accomplishment confirms its dedication to creating the densest network of swap stations and guaranteeing that EV users may reach a station within a radius of one kilometre with no wait time.
After opening its first swap station in June 2020 in Janakpuri, New Delhi, Battery Smart quickly expanded to 1000 locations in 30 cities, accomplishing over 35 million swaps.
In an effort to increase its presence across the country, it has carefully established stations in Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Telangana, Haryana, and, most recently, Maharasthra.
Siddharth Sikka, Co-founder of Battery Smart said, “Committed to helping India achieve net zero emissions by 2070, we appreciate the Government’s sustained support towards the EV industry, which has been instrumental in our growth.”
“Addressing the GST disparity on lithium-ion batteries sold separately will further accelerate EV adoption by making it more affordable, thus benefiting commercial EV drivers – the backbone of India’s last-mile mobility sector.”
With 45,000 customers, Battery Smart is a key player in the Indian two and three-wheeler EV market. Its battery-as-a-service solution enables two-minute battery swaps that empower EV drivers to save time, cover greater distances, and reduce their upfront costs by up to 40%, the company claims.
