The first battery pack was successfully delivered to Cherdchai Motors Sales, the biggest bus operator in Thailand, according to a joint announcement from Banpu NEXT and Durapower.
With this delivery, the e-bus market and heavy-duty vehicle sector in Thailand and the Asia-Pacific area have reached a major milestone. It also serves as evidence of the fruitful cooperation of three prominent figures in the business, who all have similar visions for a sustainable future driven by decarbonisation and electric transportation.
Finally, it represents a significant milestone in the creation of Thailand’s DP NEXT battery assembly factory, which is a joint venture (JV) between Banpu NEXT and Durapower, operating under DP NEXT Co., Ltd.
High-performance lithium NMC batteries, which take less time to recharge than traditional lithium LFP battery technology and may enable the car to go 300 km on a single charge, are the first pack to be delivered to Cherdchai. For the bus operator to increase service efficiency, all of these advantages are essential.
This factory is well-positioned to satisfy the growing demand and help Thailand and the Asia-Pacific area switch from internal combustion engine (ICE) heavy-duty vehicles, such as buses, trucks, and large commercial vehicles, to electric vehicles (EVs).
