The next-generation Chetak electric scooter has been launched by Bajaj Auto. The most recent Chetak avatar has more features and is built on a new platform. There are now three different versions of the Chetak. The Chetak’s prices (ex-showroom, India) range from Rs 120,000 to Rs 127,000.
The next-generation Chetak is equipped with a new frame which houses a 3.5kWh battery that is now located under the floorboard. With this Bajaj Auto claims a bigger range of 153km and the scooter also gets a 950W charger. Bajaj claims a 0-80 percent charge in just 3 hours. The company also claims the new battery is now 3kg lighter.
Aside from this, the Chetak employs a 4kW motor and has the same equipment as the Chetak from the previous version. With a top speed of 73 kph in the top two versions and 63 kph in the base 3503 model, the claimed performance is comparable to what was previously stated.
More boot room is one of the major benefits of switching to a floor-mounted battery. With the new 35-liter boot being one of the largest in the industry, this issue, which was one of the few concerns about the previous Chetak, has been resolved. Additionally, the seat is now 80mm longer and the wheelbase has increased by 25mm to 1350mm.
The company’s guarantee for the new Chetak is three years and fifty thousand kilometers. With intentions to release the base 3503 model later, Bajaj has only revealed the costs of two variations thus far. Presently, the Chetak has competition from models such as the TVS iQube, Ather Rizta, Ampere Nexus, and Ola S1 line.
