For its battery supply products, Ather Energy has joined hands with Chinese firm CBAK Energy. Under its subsidiary brand, Nanjing CBAK New Energy Technology Co. Ltd., China’s leading lithium-ion and sodium-ion battery maker CBAK would supply Indian firm Model 32140 cylindrical lithium-ion battery cells.
The Model 32140 battery cell is highly recommended for application in the two-wheeler, three-wheeler, and light electric vehicle markets, based on the press release by CBAK. Therefore, Ather’s use of these batteries goes a long way in further confirming the country’s requirement for high-performance batteries of this type. The supplier of the NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) batteries utilized by Ather in its scooters is Amara Raj Advanced Cell Technologies. Along with extending the range of the scooter, the new LFP batteries will also help make the firm’s upcoming electric motorcycles more compatible.
