Using Pininfarina’s aerodynamic skills, Aptera Motors will present their production-intent solar electric vehicle at CES 2025. The partnership between Aptera and Pininfarina, which is owned by the Mahindra Group, started in the early phases of the company’s aerodynamic design validation and has a lot of potential for more in-depth technical contributions as the business gets closer to production.
Aptera will initially present its production-intent vehicle to the public at CES 2025. The majority of drivers can use them every day without ever needing to plug in for charging because to their 700 watts of inbuilt solar cells. The solar cells that enable the 3D-curved, automotive-grade solar panels were supplied by Maxeon Solar Technologies.
Aptera Motors claims that the Aptera EV can go up to 400 miles or 640 kilometers on a single charge and can drive up to 40 miles or 64 kilometers per day on solar power.
Aptera’s innovative solar electric car represents the next wave of energy-efficient transportation as it doesn’t need to be charged for the majority of everyday use. The vehicle’s ground-breaking aerodynamic performance was made possible by Aptera’s collaboration with Pininfarina, a pioneer in design and aerodynamics. Aptera has improved its design to get one of the lowest drag coefficients of any passenger car in production, establishing a new benchmark for energy economy in the automotive sector, using Pininfarina’s Wind Tunnel in Turin, Italy.
