During the first round of the TVS Racing Electric One Make Championship (e-OMC), TVS Motor Company’s electric race bike, the Apache RTE (Racing Throttle Electric), achieved an astounding top speed of 200 km/h, marking a historic occasion for Indian motorsports. The new electric One Make Championship, or e-OMC, is an annual event that uses the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V gasoline-powered vehicle.
Designed specifically for the e-OMC, the Apache RTE is meant to be a demonstration of the newest developments in electric motorcycle performance and power.
With its advanced chemistry battery pack and high-efficiency liquid-cooled motor, the bike has the highest power-to-weight ratio in its class. The optimised performance and safety are guaranteed by the specialised battery management system with race-specific algorithms.
TVS has spared no effort in creating a device that can run at such remarkable rates. The Apache RTE is equipped with a 320mm front disc Brembo braking system, custom Ohlins suspension, a single reduction chain drive, and Pirelli Super Corsa tyres wrapped around carbon fibre rims. The bike can go at amazing speeds because of the aerodynamic carbon fibre fairing, which reduces drag.
Eight skilled riders, selected to compete in the inaugural season, pushed the Apache RTE to its limits on the racetrack. Sarthak Chavan emerged victorious in Round 1, closely followed by Chirant V and Alwin Sundar, all of whom experienced the thrill of hitting the double-century mark on the speedometer.
“The TVS Racing e-OMC is a testament to our commitment to revolutionizing the racing ecosystem and pushing the limits of electric motorcycle technology,” said Vimal Sumbly, Head Business – Premium, TVS Motor Company. “Achieving a top speed of 200 km/h in the very first round demonstrates the incredible potential of electric racing and sets a new benchmark for performance.”
The e-OMC races, held alongside the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC), will continue to thrill spectators at iconic tracks like the Madras Motor Race Track, Kari Motor Speedway, and Buddh International Circuit.
