The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has recently deployed two electric vehicles in Raja Bhoj Airport of Bhopal in a move to reduce carbon emissions and a pollution-free environment.
AAI is transitioning to electric vehicles. The Bhopal airport recently switched to 100% renewable energy to reduce emissions.
AAI’s primary objective in introducing electric cars to its offices and airports is to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and curb vehicular emissions.
Ram Jee Awasthi, General Manager at the Airports Authority of India, stated that Bhopal Airport aims to transition all vehicles on its premises to electric vehicles (EVs) by 2024.
Awasthi further shared that AAI plans to establish high-voltage and fast-charging stations in strategic locations to meet the requirements of these EVs and other airport stakeholders. The organization is also in the process of implementing a parking policy that will include the installation of EV charging stations throughout the Bhopal airport campus, fostering the growth of an EV-friendly environment.
Additionally, Awasthi revealed that airlines have responded positively to the decision of replacing vehicles with EVs and have shown interest in the initiative.
In light of this, AAI has requested airport authorities to initiate the transition from conventional vehicles to EVs.
