Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has recently inaugurated forty-two ultra-low-cost EV charging stations in India.
CM stated that Delhi has the lowest cost for using electric vehicles (EVs) in the country and has earned the title of the “EV capital” of India.
At an event in GTB Nagar, Kejriwal inaugurated 42 new ultra-low-cost EV charging stations, bringing the total number of such stations in Delhi to 53.
He emphasized that as the number of EVs in the city has increased in recent years, air pollution levels have decreased significantly.
Kejriwal highlighted the positive impact of the EV policy implemented by the city government and mentioned that Delhi aims for at least 25% of new vehicles purchased by 2025 to be EVs. Currently, 13% of new vehicles bought in Delhi are EVs, surpassing the national average of 6%.
Kejriwal also outlined the key elements of the successful EV policy, including government subsidies, a network of charging stations, and low cost per unit of running an EV compared to conventional vehicles.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress made and mentioned that Delhi has one-third of the total number of EV charging stations in India, with a significant portion of the country’s EV consumption taking place in the city.
