Promoting electric mobility, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has proposed to purchase 270 electric bikes as part of the National Clean Air Programme.
This purchase will be aimed to improve the quality of the city’s ambient air.
These electric bikes will come with fire extinguishers in all 243 wards covered by the BBMP to help combat dangerous rubbish pick-up spots.
According to Praveen Lingaiah, BBMP head engineer for solid waste management, these electric bikes will be used by health inspectors and marshals to monitor dangerous rubbish dumps.
Because the vehicles will be GPS-enabled, the command center of the BBMP will be able to follow their movements.
Lingaiah said that marshals are responsible for responding to fire complaints at vulnerable locations. We are acquiring electric bikes to provide ambient air quality.
