Stepping up their efforts to intensify the adoption of electric mobility, Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has unveiled 12 new e-buses on the Tirupati to Kadapa route to reduce carbon emissions.
This measure is part of the state government’s green mobility initiative, under which 100 e-buses were approved for the APSRTC Alipiri Depot.
The new buses were launched in Kadapa by APSRTC Chairman A Mallikarjun Reddy along with Kadapa Zone ED K Gopinath Reddy as well as Kadapa and Tirupati Regional Managers Gopal Reddy & T Chengal Reddy.
It has now expanded electric bus services to Tirupati and Kadapa routes.
RTC officials announced that it would operate 19 buses from Tirupati to Kadapa.
The first bus service will start at 4.30 AM and the last bus will operate until 7.30 PM.
Olectra Greentech Limited claims that these air-conditioned electric buses can travel up to 200 km on a single battery charge. This makes them perfect for intercity transportation.
Olectra’s CMD, KV Pradeep, said, “We are committed to providing sustainable transportation solutions to help cities become cleaner and greener. The total number of electric buses on Andhra Pradesh’s roads is now 91.”
In September last year, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy opened the electric buses on the Ghat Road between Tirupati & Tirumala.
RTC operates 50 electric buses from Tirupati to Tirumala and 14 more between Tirumala Airport and Renigunta.
The RTC, a government-run corporation, had originally drafted a proposal to run 12 electric buses each to Madanapalli, Kadapa, and Nellore routes from Tirupati.
